Join a million other runners in a global 10K race hosted in 25 cities across the world on Aug 31. When you take part in the Nike+ Human Race, every step you run counts toward a cause you support. Don’t fret if there is not a city near by, you can run your own race with Nike + iPod Sport Kit and log your distance and time online. By combining the digital running world with the physical, the Nike+ Human Race is open to anyone, anywhere.
The Nike+ Human Race will help support three global charities: Lance Armstrong Foundation, ninemillion.org and World Wildlife Foundation.
This is the first global race to reach such a large participant base and geographic scope. There are access points in 25 cities as well as bringing the race to every runner through a digital world with nikeplus.com. It will be an event like no other because of its size, but also because of the experience we are creating: live concerts on race day with top musical artists and Nike athlete participation.
This race is expected to be the world’s largest running event. It will be held anywhere a registered runner chooses to hit the pavement. Nike has organized 25 physical race cities, but the Nike+ Human Race is truly open to everyone, everywhere. If you don’t live in a race city, just sign up at nikeplus.com to participate and run in your city. The 25 race cities include: Austin Bogotá Buenos Aires Caracas Chicago Istanbul London Los Angeles Lima Madrid Melbourne Mexico City Munich New York Paris Quito Rome São Paulo Seoul Shanghai Singapore Taipei Tokyo Vancouver Warsaw
The following top athletes will be joining the sea of runners on race day: :Lance Armstrong in the US :Yuna Kim in Korea :Dirk Nowitzki in Munich
You can now take your charitable giving one step further with the ‘Get Pledged' tool on the Nike+ Human Race 10K charities page. After registering for the race and creating a race profile, you can set a pledge goal and have your friends and family support your charity of choice. When you cross the finish line on 8.31.2008, your success will be shared with those in need.
